Director Zoran Tadic passes away
One of Croatia’s greatest film directors, Zoran Tadic, passed away on Sunday.
Tadic began his career as a critic and publicist in 1961, moving up the chain by working as an assistant, director’s assistant, and co-writer, making his first independent moves in 1968.
Zoran Tadic directed ten shorts, including “Hitch…Hitch…Hitchcock!” (1968), “Amerikanka” (1970), “Pletenice”, “Dernek”, “Zemlja” (1975) and “Kasinska 6” (1981), as well as some sixty television, documentary and theatrical films.
With his 1981 film “Ritam Zlocina”, Tadic entered full-feature waters. That fantastic thriller, by writer Pavao Pavlicic, which takes place in a Zagreb slum, was awarded at the film festival in Porto, and is the crown jewel Tadic’s opus.
Tadic was a much decorated director both at home and abroad. He also taught at the Academy of Drama in Zagreb.
Tadic was born in Livno in 1943 and lived in Zagreb.
He studied comparative literature and philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb. (10.09.2007.)
